They just don’t make music like this anymore. It’s natural, it’s spontaneous, it’s old-fashioned in a front porch kind of way, and it simply puts you in a foot-stomping good mood.

This music gives you the urge to play hooky. It makes you want to hop into a pickup truck, bring along the dog and a case of beer, and head off to the country to go fishin’. And if you could travel back in time to visit the Weston Coffee Shop that Danny sings about, and taste Dora’s daily special meal followed by sweet raisin pie served by Aunt Cathy and a side of Billy’s blunt humor …. well, that would just be the catfish’s whiskers.

Danny B and Jake Thomas are veterans who bring their own special musical charms and seasoned, seductively rough-edged voices to the nine songs on this menu. Danny’s rich and versatile harmonica tunes and Jake’s dexterous guitar-picking go together like eggs ‘over easy’ and sizzling
bacon.

The songs were recorded in 2009. The Weston Coffee Shop was a neighborhood landmark run by Danny’s parents, Dora and Billy, for almost 25 years until it closed in 1984.
